The top 5 things to do in Queensland

By on 1. März 2017

The top 5 things to do in Queensland are not easy to choose, but I think the following ones are a good selection and it should be something in there for everyone. Every traveller has his/ her own opinion on what are the best things to do in this lovely area, but there is just some stuff you have to mention. From famous islands to endless coastlines – you will not get enough of this wonderful area…

The top 5 things to do in Queensland

From all of the states that I have seen in Australia like Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory – Queensland maybe has been the most unique one. And this is why…

Whitehaven Beach – Pure paradise

Fraser Island

Fraser Island is the first one to name under the top 5 things to do in Queensland. This place is absolutely stunning. It is the biggest sand island on earth and a destination every traveller in Australia wants to go to for many reasons.

You can see very untouched and pretty unique nature there. Besides that you will have a lot of fun on the camping grounds with other travellers, if you visit the island by booking a guided tour. You can also go on your own. Just make sure to go by 4 wheel drive. Otherwise you will have a problem 😉

Prepare for some spots you will never forget like lake McKenzie or the Maheno Wreck 😉

Endless beaches on Fraser

Gold Coast & Surfers Paradise

The second thing that needs to be under the top 5 things to do in Queensland are actually to things – the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise.

The whole Gold Coast is a mecca for surfers. It is good for pro’s as well as beginners. It is a very beautiful coastline with a lot of spots to stop by and hang out at. Surfers Paradise is one of them. It is a place where you can have great parties and it looks like the “Miami” of Australia. Countless skyscrapers along a white sand beach… What else do want?

Surfers Paradise

Whitsunday Islands

A Whitsunday Islands tour has to be under the top 5 things to do in Queensland. Me and my girlfriend went on one of many offered boat tours (price: about 470 $) and it was an experience I will never forget.

These sailing tours are so much fun. You can help the crew and learn a bit on how to sail a big boat or you just lay back and relax. You will visit Whitehaven Beach, go snorkeling and maybe see some exotic animals like sea eagles, dolphins or whales

The Whitsunday Islands is a “Must Do” in my opinion and I guess almost everyone, who has done it, will agree on that.

Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is absolutely stunning. Literally everyone knows it and it definitely has to be on under the top 5 things to do in Queensland. The Great Barrier Reef is by far the biggest coral reef on earth. It is a protected UNESCO World Heritage site. I went there for one day and did a snorkeling as well as scuba diving tour on the outta reef. You can reach this beautiful destination via speed boat or with a helicopter tour. Prepare for a ruff ride, if you take the boat. Especially when it’s wavy 😉

tour costs about 195 $. Depending on what kind of trip you book, the prices can get a lot higher though. But it is worth the money anyway. The Great Barrier Reef is a once in a lifetime experience. So make sure you put this on your list of the top 5 things to do in Queensland.

Diving on the Great Barrier Reef

Daintree Rainforest

The last place, that has to be on the list of the top 5 things to do in Queensland, is the Daintree Rainforest. This rainforest is truely special. It split apart from the Amazonas millions of years ago. Today it is the home for aboriginal tribes and lots of different animal species. Cassowaries are one to name 🙂 Along the way you should also stop by at Palm Cove, Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas. All of these spots are very beautiful.

Make sure to have a look at Cape Tribulation when you visit the Daintree Rainforest. It is a famous beach where James Cook in 1768 almost had an accident with his ship. It is an UNESCO World Heritage sight as well. Australia actually has countless of them as well as very cool road trip destinations 😉

Don’t miss the Daintree Rainforest from the top 5 things to do in Queensland

.
When I finally realized it, I could not believe it

And I still can't... 🙈
.
Riding a camel for a couple hours, sleeping in a proper berber tent, having dinner and a jam session with the locals as well as watching the sunrise and the sunset was more than I ever expected 😍
.
So what does that show you ???
.
Simply that dreams come true❗
.
If you really believe in them, they will be reality one day

  • Lost in the narrow alleys of Marrakesh 😍
.
I had a couple problems during my first two days in Morocco
.
When I arrived at the airport, the police took my drone away, because apparently you are not allowed to takes drones to this country
.
I also wasn't able to get a working navigation for the car that I have rented, so I had to sort it out in the city centre of Marrakesh, which wasn't that easy to be honest
.
Additionally I was not really prepared for the cold nights 😅
.
So it was quite a rough start
.
Nevertheless I have to say that I really like this Morocco so far❗
.
The food is great, during the day it's always sunny, the architecture is amazing and the people are incredibly friendly 😃
.
Today the REAL tour starts
.
I will leave Marrakesh and visit the highest waterfalls of Morocco in Ouzoud 😁
.
Sooo excited!
.
TELL ME: Do you have any other recommendations on what to see and do in Morocco???
.
Drop them in the comments! 😃

  • Is there anything better than a great sunset by a wonderful beach??? 😀🌅
.
I don't really know 😅
.
I have to admit, however, that I like a pretty sunrise a little more than a sunset to be honest
.
But why?
.
I guess, because a sunrise symbolises a new start 👌
.
A start to a new day
.
A start to a new week
.
A start to a new life
.
A start to whatever you want to be new
.
And that's what life comes down to a lot of times anyway, right? It's about starting things over and over again until they work out the way you want them to 💪
.
TELL ME: What do you like more, a sunset or a sunrise??? 😄

  • Portrait of a Filippino kid at Coron Island 👧
.
You guys already know that I often talk about what you can learn from travelling
.
THIS picture is the perfect example why I do that so often❗
.
Visiting the Philippines and especially seeing the local homeless kids in Coron made me learn something really valuable again
.
Even though these kids literally have nothing, they still seem very happy and they always have a smile on their face
.
The only thing you need to do is to wave, take a picture or just simply talk to them 📷
.
These kids taught me a lot about gratitude and happiness
.
Since I saw them, I try to be grateful for each and every single day, because I don't have to live under these kind of circumstances (and never had to)
.
Plus, if they can be happy with the life they live, then I can do it too!
.
Most people, including me, complain waaay to much about things that are not worth complaining about 😒
.
Sometimes it just needs a situation like seeing some homeless Filippino kids to put things in the right perspective again 🙏

  • Throwing stones around while sitting by a crystal clear swedish river in the middle of nowhere 🌲🙏
.
For me, this is the ultimate example for a perfect timeout
.
I don't know how you guys see it, but I feel that having a proper timeout once in a while gets more and more important in our modern world 🌏
.
Everything gets faster and faster every single day
.
Sometimes it's almost impossible to keep up with the pace
.
I am not saying that hustle or working hard is a bad thing (actually the opposite), but in oder to give a 100 %, you need to be fully focused and energized 💪
.
This is why I try to get my german ass to other countries as much as I can, to just simply be disconnected from the hustle and to recharge my batteries
.
For my next timeout I have Marocco on my list, starting from the upcoming sunday! 😀
.
I will climb North Africa's highest mountain, visit Marocco ' highest waterfall and ride camels through the desert
.
And all that to just simply get my head free and to enjoy life❗
.
TELL ME: How do you disconnected from daily life in the best possible way???
.
#sweden #naturephotography
  • One of the moments where I felt completely free was this one 🙏
.
Driving down the great ocean road with a couple of friends .
The pure feeling of freedom I had, was absolutely incredible for me and in my opinion, that's pretty much what every person should aim for 👌
.
Only a couple percent of humans on our planet really have this privilege of being free - time and money wise
.
Being able to decide how you want to spend your day, doing whatever you want to do, whenever you want to do it, without having anyone telling you that you can't, is the ultimate goal for me ⭐
.
And until I get there I try to get this feeling of freedom as much as I can to fuel my brain 👊
.
This is also why I like traveling so much, because you experience crazy things that give you this feeling
.
Why am I saying this???
.
Because I honestly think that we all need something in our lifes that keeps us going
.
For some it's driving a nice car
.
For others it's buying their own flat
.
For me, it's living life on my own terms
.
And this is why I can only recommend anyone, who thinks in a similar way, to travel foreign countries as much as possible, because it gives you a good glimpse of best feeling in the world - FREEDOM
.
