10 reasons to visit Croatia

By on 18. November 2016

There are more than 10 reasons to visit Croatia, but I would have to write a book to cover everything. Obviously I can only speak for myself, but I think that everyone, who is travelling around Europe should visit this beautiful country one time at least. It is very diverse and it definitely has a lot to see. These are the 10 reasons why you have to go there…

10 reasons to visit Croatia

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Countless coastlines

The coastlines are the Nr. 1 of the 10 reasons to visit Croatia. When it comes down to coastlines, that you should visit during your travels through Europe, than Croatia should be on top of your list – read here. If you like being by the ocean, water sports or just lying at the beach, Croatia is for you. The light blue water colour will blow you mind for sure. You can look onto the hundreds of islands, regardless of where you stay at the coast. It also is a good country for road trip, because you will find many places to park your car right next to the beach or on top of a hill. The views are fantastic. The beaches are clean and not to full of tourists just yet. So get there quickly!

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Beautiful national parks

You also need to visit a national park when you go to Croatia – read more here. There are many of them, but the two most famous ones are Plitvice National Park and Krka National Park. The Plitvice National Park is even under the protection of the UNESCO. Just like many other parts and buildings of Croatia. My girlfriend and I have visited the Krka National Park and I can definitely recommand it. It is a wonderful place and you can spend a couple of days at least to explore this lovely piece of nature.

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Impressive canyons

Croatia even has some canyons you can visit, as you can read here. Actually I should have been mentioning all of them under the 10 reasons to visit Croatia, but I can not put everything in here 🙂 We have seen the Cetina canyon, which is located next to the village that we have stayed at. The village is called Omis. The canyon lies behind it and goes down south for quite a while. Certainly there are a couple good canyons like Vražji prolaz and Badnjevica to visit, but the views you get and the pictures you can take at the Cetina canyon will make a memory for life. Promised!

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Old roman castles

Something you just have to visit on your trip is an old roman castle – read more here. It does not really matter which one you take, because every one you choose will be worth the visit. Many of the castles are used for “Game of Thrones” – I guess you might know that TV show 😉 We have seen an old pirate castle on top of a small mountain in Omis – read “here”. It was very cool to have a look at, but I think you will find the best ones in Dubrovnik, Split, etc. Anyway, just make sure you visit one.

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Cities with a special style

The cities in Croatia are just absolutely georgous, just like Omis or Split – read here. It is a big factor in my opinion why more and more people want to visit this country. Every city has a charming old roman style to it, which you will not find in many other countries. Besides that you will find a lot of historically valuable buildings, old streets and shops as well as wonderful markets and restaurants. I think Croatia is a top attraction for people, who love city trips.

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Delicious food everywhere

When you visit Croatia you will find delicious food everywhere you go. You even get something from vendors on the beach 🙂 Besides that you will find everything in restaurants, bars, in small caffees and so on. There is all different kind of food – seafood, french, italian and much more. To be honest, I could not find any typical croatian food. I guess you have to eat with some locals in that case or at least ask them where to find it.

10 reasons to visit Croatia: The Croatians

The Croatians are very lovely. It is a nation full of friendly and helpful people. Everywhere you go, they will treat you very good. Most of them speak good english and they are very proud of their country. And you can see and feel that. A lot of them like to stay in Croatia and do not travel that much as far as I have experienced it. Exactly the opposite to us germans. But I can understand that completely, if you have all these beautiful things in front of your door 😉 Make sure when you visit Croatia, that you get in touch with the locals!

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Thousend islands

According to Wikipedia Croatia has 1.246 islands. Mostly known are Brac, Hvar, Vis, Korcula and Mljet. Every one of them has its special sights. You will find the “golden horn” on Brac, an old military base on Vis and much more on the other islands. Every single island has a special charme and they are a nice place for vacations, to hang out or for day tours.

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Outdoor activities

When you visit Croatia you almost will not get around the various outdoor activities. They have to be under the 10 reasons to visit Croatia. This country is full of adventures. Whether you go sailing, hiking, rafting, canyoning, climbing, driving a jetski, do paragliding or whatever you want to do, it will be a lot of fun. Along the whole coastline and in almost every village they will come up to you and try to sell you an activity. If you have some extra money, than do it. It is good fun!

10 reasons to visit Croatia: Leaving your comfort zone

Croatia is an eye opener in different kind of ways. As you can read here, I want to put some focus on the personal development you have when you travel, what you learn and what it gives you. Croatia can definitely do that for you. If you are not only visiting Croatia for an ordinary vacation or to hang out at the beach for 3 weeks, than this country can make you leave your comfort zone and open your eyes for sure.

You can do activities you probably have never done before and that are a task for you. Additionally you can see unique landscapes and get in contact with strangers. You will see that there is much more out there to discover. Croatia has shown me, that you do not necessarily have to travel that far to experience something completely new. There is beauty everywhere you go. You just need to open your eyes. Maybe it is just around the corner. I would be curious to see what it brings for you 😉 …

So what does that show you ???

  • Lost in the narrow alleys of Marrakesh 😍
.
I had a couple problems during my first two days in Morocco
.
When I arrived at the airport, the police took my drone away, because apparently you are not allowed to takes drones to this country
.
I also wasn't able to get a working navigation for the car that I have rented, so I had to sort it out in the city centre of Marrakesh, which wasn't that easy to be honest
.
Additionally I was not really prepared for the cold nights 😅
.
So it was quite a rough start
.
Nevertheless I have to say that I really like this Morocco so far❗
.
The food is great, during the day it's always sunny, the architecture is amazing and the people are incredibly friendly 😃
.
Today the REAL tour starts
.
I will leave Marrakesh and visit the highest waterfalls of Morocco in Ouzoud 😁
.
Sooo excited!
.
TELL ME: Do you have any other recommendations on what to see and do in Morocco???

Drop them in the comments! 😃

  • Is there anything better than a great sunset by a wonderful beach??? 😀🌅
.
I don't really know 😅
.
I have to admit, however, that I like a pretty sunrise a little more than a sunset to be honest
.
But why?
.
I guess, because a sunrise symbolises a new start 👌
.
A start to a new day
.
A start to a new week
.
A start to a new life
.
A start to whatever you want to be new
.
And that's what life comes down to a lot of times anyway, right? It's about starting things over and over again until they work out the way you want them to 💪
.
TELL ME: What do you like more, a sunset or a sunrise??? 😄

  • Portrait of a Filippino kid at Coron Island 👧
.
You guys already know that I often talk about what you can learn from travelling
.
THIS picture is the perfect example why I do that so often❗
.
Visiting the Philippines and especially seeing the local homeless kids in Coron made me learn something really valuable again
.
Even though these kids literally have nothing, they still seem very happy and they always have a smile on their face
.
The only thing you need to do is to wave, take a picture or just simply talk to them 📷
.
These kids taught me a lot about gratitude and happiness
.
Since I saw them, I try to be grateful for each and every single day, because I don't have to live under these kind of circumstances (and never had to)
.
Plus, if they can be happy with the life they live, then I can do it too!
.
Most people, including me, complain waaay to much about things that are not worth complaining about 😒
.
Sometimes it just needs a situation like seeing some homeless Filippino kids to put things in the right perspective again 🙏

  • Throwing stones around while sitting by a crystal clear swedish river in the middle of nowhere 🌲🙏
.
For me, this is the ultimate example for a perfect timeout
.
I don't know how you guys see it, but I feel that having a proper timeout once in a while gets more and more important in our modern world 🌏
.
Everything gets faster and faster every single day
.
Sometimes it's almost impossible to keep up with the pace
.
I am not saying that hustle or working hard is a bad thing (actually the opposite), but in oder to give a 100 %, you need to be fully focused and energized 💪
.
This is why I try to get my german ass to other countries as much as I can, to just simply be disconnected from the hustle and to recharge my batteries
.
For my next timeout I have Marocco on my list, starting from the upcoming sunday! 😀
.
I will climb North Africa's highest mountain, visit Marocco ' highest waterfall and ride camels through the desert
.
And all that to just simply get my head free and to enjoy life❗
.
TELL ME: How do you disconnected from daily life in the best possible way???
.
#sweden #naturephotography
  • One of the moments where I felt completely free was this one 🙏
.
Driving down the great ocean road with a couple of friends .
The pure feeling of freedom I had, was absolutely incredible for me and in my opinion, that's pretty much what every person should aim for 👌
.
Only a couple percent of humans on our planet really have this privilege of being free - time and money wise
.
Being able to decide how you want to spend your day, doing whatever you want to do, whenever you want to do it, without having anyone telling you that you can't, is the ultimate goal for me ⭐
.
And until I get there I try to get this feeling of freedom as much as I can to fuel my brain 👊
.
This is also why I like traveling so much, because you experience crazy things that give you this feeling
.
Why am I saying this???
.
Because I honestly think that we all need something in our lifes that keeps us going
.
For some it's driving a nice car
.
For others it's buying their own flat
.
For me, it's living life on my own terms
.
And this is why I can only recommend anyone, who thinks in a similar way, to travel foreign countries as much as possible, because it gives you a good glimpse of best feeling in the world - FREEDOM
.
